On March 11, 2021, President Biden signed the biggest economic rescue plans in the US history. This stimulus check package is the largest-to-date in the whole COVID crisis.

New Stimulus Payment

According to the IRS, SSDI beneficiaries who have the required work credits are set to receive upto $1400 in stimulus payments. For eligible married couples who file jointly, the stimulus payments receivable are upto $2800. Although the average amount is around those figures, it could be adjusted by the IRS depending on the total annual income amount by the claimants. For instance, adults with an annual income less than $75,000 are qualified for full stimulus check payment. However, for those earning above $75,000 and below $80,000 would receive a reduced amount in stimulus checks.

Third Stimulus Payment for Dependents, VA Beneficiaries on SSDI Record

According to the SSA, claimants who fulfill the full eligibility criteria for SSDI, with having a work history of 35 years and paid social security FICA taxes, are now automatically eligible for the third stimulus payments.

Criteria for Stimulus Checks for Dependents

The American Rescue Plan Act allows individuals, dependents and VA beneficiaries to receive economic aid through the COVID-19 stimulus payments. So children and adult dependents claimed on tax returns within these households (with SSDI eligibility) are also eligible for $1400 payments, including college students and some people with disabilities, not just children under 17.

Undocumented immigrants are not allowed to receive direct payments by the IRS. However, unlike the previous round of payment, dependents and VA beneficiaries would be allowed as undocumented resident spouses of documented residents' SSDI record.

So, if you are an indirect or direct stimulus check claimant, you will likely be receiving direct deposit payments made first automatically in the bank account of your most recently filed tax return. If the IRS does not have your direct deposit payment information, then you will most likely receive payments via Economic Impact Payment (EIP) debit cards or physical checks.

Here's what you need to do to ensure your third stimulus check is not delayed or missed:

  • -File a 2020 tax returns;
  • -File a 2019 tax return if the 2020 tax returns t has not been submitted or processed yet;
  • -Did not file a 2020 or 2019 tax return, but registered for the First Economic Impact Payment with the non-filers tool in 2020; or
  • -If you are a federal benefit beneficiary who do not usually file a tax return

**If you meet the above criteria and you've already applied for the stimulus checks you don't need to do anything else. Here's where you can check your third stimulus payment status.
