2- WORKER CAN GET SURVIVOR BENEFITS IF FAMILY MEMBER DIES:-

You with your family can receive benefits if someone from your family worked for SSA and died. A departed person must have worked long enough to be eligible for benefits.

WHO QUALIFIES FOR SOCIAL SECURITY SURVIVOR BENEFITS:-

• ●A widow of 60 or above age and not remarried.

• ●A disabled widow of 50 or above age and not remarried.

• ●Any age widow taking care of a deceased child under 16 or disabled.

• ●An unmarried child of the deceased below 18.

• ●A stepchild, grandchild, step-grandchild, or adopted child, under certain circumstances.

• ●Parents, age 62 or older, who were dependent on the deceased for at least half of their income and whose own Social Security benefit would not be larger than that of the deceased offspring.

• ●A surviving divorced spouse.

• ●Retired widows or widower can receive 100% of the deceased's benefit.

• ●Between 60 years of age or near to full retirement, widow or widowers can get 71.5% to 99% benefit.

• ●Age of 50 to 59 widow or widower can receive 71.5% benefit.

• ●A widow or widower of any age who is caring for a child under age 16 can receive 75%.

• ●Divorced spouses have the same benefit percentage as widows or widowers.

2- CHILDREN AND OTHER BENEFITS:-

• ●Children below 18 or disabled dependent children can receive 75% of the deceased's benefit.

• ●82.5% of the benefit goes to a surviving dependent parent.

• ●Two dependent parents can get 75% of each survivor's benefit.

HOW TO APPLY FOR SURVIVOR BENEFITS:-

Online application for survivor or death benefits is not available. People have to notify the Social Security Administration team in case a person dies. People can also submit the contact information of the deceased person to Social Security to notify them.

Individuals can visit the office from Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m to talk to the Social Security representative.
